Cover Reveal: Origin by: Jennifer L. Armentrout

I am so excited to be a part of the cover reveal for the lasted book in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux series: Origin!

This book is being released 8/27/13 from Entangled Teen (a big thanks to them for including me in the cover reveal).

Now, before we get to the good stuff (there are abs involved), here is the official blurb:

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

Eep! I am beyond excited for this one! That cliffhanger at the end of Opal was killer, and Daemon’s cameo in Obsession just about did me in.

But enough of my rambling. It’s time for what you actually came here for! Presenting the amazing, super hot cover of Origin:

Obsession by: Jennifer L. Armentrout

A while back I participated in the cover reveal for Obsession by: Jennifer L. Armentrout. Well, it finally got released and let me tell you it did not disappoint, though it did throw more than a few curve balls at me.

Obsession by: Jennifer L. ArmentroutHere is the description coming from Goodreads:

He’s arrogant, domineering, and… To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something… unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?

I found this book almost hard to review because oh wow. This book gives the Lux world a whole new look. I really hope that this book continues on in its own series and that the revelations made here carry over into the Lux books. I can’t say a whole lot about it without being spoilery, but know that the whole human/Luxen/Arum dynamic gets a total makeover in this book, but at the same time, it doesn’t detract from the world building done in the Lux books. Obsession adds another much more complex layer on top of what is already established.

Both Obsession and the Lux books can be read independently, but at the same time they add to each other and provide a more complete picture of the world.

That being said, if you are planning on reading both the Lux books and Obsession, I would recommend starting with the Lux books, reading through Opal, and then reading Obsession. Daemon makes a cameo in this book that is going to be a major spoiler if you know what you are looking for.

I thought that Obsession was a great read. Even though it was definitely an adult book and not YA, it still maintained the same feel as the Lux books. It was a bit darker than the Lux books, which is understandable since it is for an older audience, but at the same time it still felt the same.

Hunter is like Daemon all grown up. Arrogant, controlling, and pretty much exactly what I think he would have turned into if he hadn’t met Katy. In other words, he is too attractive and intriguing for his own good.

At first, I thought Serena was going to be a total pushover and let Hunter and whoever else walk all over her, but I was wrong. She’s scrappy. She stood up for herself even when she really couldn’t do anything. Plus, she has a strong sense of right and wrong which is a good balance to Hunter who will definitely need that grounding.

I’ll admit that I was shocked by some of the things that happened in this book, and I am hoping that the story lines began here will be continued whether it be in a continuation of the adult series or it gets tied back into the Lux books, this really needs continuation. I am assuming it will be since you can’t drop bombs like what were in Obsession and just let them fizzle out. I will be looking forward to what comes next, so I see where this is going.

5/5 stars
